Comfort

While pregnancy is a very exciting time for most of your patients, it can also be a time of increased physical discomfort. And while prenatal vitamins are an important part of care and nutrition during pregnancy, you know that compliance is often an issue in the face of GI distress.

Why CitraNatal®?

CitraNatal® prenatal vitamins contain a uniquely gentle formula for mom's GI comfort and baby's optimized nutrition. They are specially formulated to provide the nutrients both mom and baby need without causing additional physical discomfort during an already uncomfortable time. CitraNatal® prenatal vitamins contain life'sDHA™, the all-natural plant source DHA found in infant formulas and many commercial food products.

Unique attributes of CitraNatal® vitamins

  • Calcium citrate, which offers unsurpassed bioavailability and does not create CO2 when combined with stomach acid, allowing patients to avoid the gas and bloating common with other calcium products
  • Carbonyl iron, which extends absorption over a period of time and reduces the chance of accidental poisoning in children
  • Docusate sodium to reduce the effects of constipation
  • Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to enhance iron absorption
  • Vitamin B6, which may help reduce nausea
  • Folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects
  • life'sDHA™, the essential fatty acid derived from an all-natural plant source that contains no detectable levels of mercury or PCBs

Important Safety Information

WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. KEEP THIS PRODUCT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.

Warnings

Ingestion of more than 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids per day has been shown to have potential antithrombotic effects, including an increased bleeding time and INR. Administration of omega-3 fatty acids should be avoided in patients on anticoagulants and in those known to have an inherited or acquired bleeding diathesis.

Folic acid alone is improper therapy in the treatment of pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias where vitamin B12 is deficient.

Precautions

Folic acid in doses above 0.1 mg daily may obscure pernicious anemia in that hematologic remission can occur while neurological manifestations progress.
