The nutrients you and your baby need

When you're pregnant, it can be difficult to get all the nutrients you need to support your baby's growth. That's why you should talk to your doctor about CitraNatal® prenatal vitamins. CitraNatal® vitamins are specially formulated to provide the nutritional support you and your baby need, while also being easy on your system.

CitraNatal® vitamins include Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, C, and E to counteract common deficiencies in pregnant women. They also include folic acid, which is clinically proven to reduce the risk of neural tube defects in children.1,2

Calcium citrate is another essential part of all CitraNatal® products. In addition to helping build strong bones, this unique form of calcium, along with ascorbic acid, enhances iron absorption in comparison with other common forms of calcium and is water-soluble, making it easier for the body to absorb. Additionally, it does not cause the gas or bloating common with some other calcium supplements.

To support the dramatic increase in iron requirements during pregnancy, CitraNatal® vitamins include carbonyl iron, which studies show is safer than the ferrous sulfate found in many other products and is generally well-tolerated.3,4 CitraNatal® products also include ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) to help with iron absorption.

CitraNatal® products also provide the benefits of zinc, copper, and iodine, as well as an all-natural, plant-based form of DHA, which is essential for your baby's brain and retinal development.5-8, 10-12

To guard against constipation — a problem for many pregnant women — CitraNatal® vitamins contain a gentle stool softener, docusate sodium. They also include vitamin B6, which reduces the effects of nausea associated with morning sickness.9

CitraNatal® vitamins are an important part of pregnancy nutrition and should be used to supplement a healthy diet. With the right foods and CitraNatal® supplements, you'll get all of the nutrients you need for you and your baby, in a formula that's easy on your system.

Important Safety Information

WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. KEEP THIS PRODUCT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.

Warnings

Ingestion of more than 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids per day has been shown to have potential antithrombotic effects, including an increased bleeding time and INR. Administration of omega-3 fatty acids should be avoided in patients on anticoagulants and in those known to have an inherited or acquired bleeding diathesis.

Folic acid alone is improper therapy in the treatment of pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias where vitamin B12 is deficient.

Precautions

Folic acid in doses above 0.1 mg daily may obscure pernicious anemia in that hematologic remission can occur while neurological manifestations progress.
