CitraNatal® Assure is a comprehensive prenatal vitamin with increased level of DHA.
In order to ensure that pregnant women get the recommended level of DHA during pregnancy, Mission Pharmacal has increased the amount of DHA to 300 mg.1 In addition, CitraNatal® Assure also contributes to Mom's comfort by using calcium citrate — a calcium source known to produce less gas and bloating than calcium carbonate; as well as docusate sodium, a stool softener to aid in relieving the symptoms of constipation that are sometimes associated with pregnancy.2
Finally, CitraNatal® Assure contains life'sDHA™, a pure, pre-formed, plant-based DHA. This pure source DHA eliminates the worry and concern that can come from fish-based Omega-3 fatty acids, which can contain trace levels of mercury and PCBs (poly-chlorinated bi-phenyls).
Important Safety Information
WARNING: Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6. KEEP THIS PRODUCT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of accidental overdose, call a doctor or poison control center immediately.
Warnings
Ingestion of more than 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids per day has been shown to have potential antithrombotic effects, including an increased bleeding time and INR. Administration of omega-3 fatty acids should be avoided in patients on anticoagulants and in those known to have an inherited or acquired bleeding diathesis.
Folic acid alone is improper therapy in the treatment of pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias where vitamin B12 is deficient.
Precautions
Folic acid in doses above 0.1 mg daily may obscure pernicious anemia in that hematologic remission can occur while neurological manifestations progress.
